Menicon has been present in Australia since the early 1980’s when the then-groundbreaking Menicon O2, the first RGP lens was introduced, along with its partner lens care solution, O2 Care. Menicon products have been continuously available in Australia since then through various distributors and in 2011 Menicon Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Menicon Co Ltd was established, based in Adelaide, South Australia.

Over the years Menicon as a company has evolved to become a major force in the global contact lens industry, represented in all the major markets and now the world’s fifth largest contact lens company; a significant achievement since being established in Japan in 1951.

Research and development has always been a key component of the Menicon philosophy and this has resulted in numerous innovative and unique contact lenses and related products being introduced over the years, always with patient safety as the priority.
